Cherry  Creek Water Basin

https://clubrunner.blob.core.windows.net/00000006876/Images/thumbnail_speaker.jpg
Chuck Reid is manager of the Cherry Creek Water Basin.
The area covering the creeks that feed the Cherry Creek Reservoir started being populated about 1860.  Urbanization causes
the water to channel as the surfaces are covered by roads and house roofs and driveways.

The reservoir construction was started in 1947.

Chuck said "everyone poops" animals and such and this gets carried into the reservoir by the creeks feeding it.

The water becomes "enriched" and allows algae to grow.   Cherry Creek is also
a state park and the people use it for swimming and recreation.

In 1956 the National Clean Water Act was passed and the reservoir fell
under the control of The Army Corps of Engineers.  If the water isn't maintained at the proper levels required by “the Act", people start complaining of getting rashes.

Due to time constraints,  Chuck didn't have time to explore "dredging".
