Rotational at Firestone Building Products

Club members enjoy a catered barbeque lunch

prior to Howard Hall's explanation of operations

and tour of the Firestone Building Products facility.

Club President Elect, Howard Hall, advises visiting Club

members about the importance of "staying between the

green lines" for everyone's safety as the plant tour begins.

Howard educates members on the organizational structure of

companies under the Bridgestone/Firestone umbrella.

Firestone B. P. is a division of Firestone's Diversified Products

which is headquartered in Indianapolis, IN.  His facility manufactures PolyISO roofing insulation for customers

in a multi-state region in the Rocky Mountain area, one of eight

manufacturing plants of this type nationally.

Howard explains the operation of the machinery that

laminates expanding foam to fiberglas paper.  The product

is then cut to predetermined sizes and packaged for shipping.

Howard shows off a foam sample taken from the production

line.  This product expands inside the mold and adheres

to the facer to produce the ISO roofing product

***

Below, Howard, shows Rick Richard a cup of the same foam

(not a vanilla shake) after it has expanded and dried.  It expands

to over 40 times its original size.

Few people know that Firestone owns and operates its own

rubber plantation in Liberia.  The operation includes schools and hospital facilities for its employees.

The Denver plant of Firestone Building Products produces

ISO insulation for ballasted roofs in the quarter million

square foot plant which occupies more than 16 acres.  They are

very proud of their safety record, having gone more than six and a half years without a lost production time injury.  The Denver facility has  earned an OSHA VVP-Site Award.

The Club thanks Howard and his staff for a great lunch and very

informative tour of Firestone Building Products.
