2010 State of the City

Debbie Lynch, State of the City Chairperson, putting together a magnificent event with every detail seen to.

Dave Williams part of the event sales team with Bob Broom and Brad Pierce that once again engineered a sell-out.

Dave Williams introduced and welcomed Mayor Ed Tauer to the podium.

Mayor Tauer referred to the history of each of us who are descendants of pioneers that tore up roots and moved to the US and Colorado being confident in their ability to adapt to new circumstances and make a success of their new life.
Aurora's strategy is to support small businesses that are the engines of growth by:
-
Splitting taxes with new businesses up to $5,000.
-
Developing a renewable solar energy farm to do solar testing out by Benett, being operated by Solar Tac.
-
By developing a cooperative effort with all Front Range water boards to voluntarily develop infrastructure to bring additional water to the area.
-
Accelerate Colorado: To use this same cooperative attitude to make the areas needs known in Washington DC. (A team of 100 officials went to DC to lobby elected representatives.)
Mayor Tauer left us with the challenge of developing innovative ideas with a pioneering attitude.
-

Mayor Ed Tauer used the "grim reapers" sickle and cheerleaders "pom poms" to dramatize the idea of a balanced approach to solving the problem of bringing businesses and jobs to Aurora without "doom and gloom" or just being a cheerleader.

Lennar's Colorado Division President David Bracht received a plaque commemorating four years of being one of the title sponsors for The State of the City.

Wells Fargo Community Bank President, Tim Padilla receives a plaque for 5 years of being a title sponsor.

Dave Frazier of Merrick and Co.received a plaque for being the reception sponsor.

The sell-out crowd enjoyed an excellent meal, the program and networking.
