Boy Scouts of America
100th Anniversary

Director-Dave Lemon, Arapahoe Boy Scouts of America, has been with BSA 9 years.
In the 100 year history of the Boy Scouts, many changes have taken place to remain relevant to the young people they need to reach. Dave asked members who had been scouts, had children who were in scouting, or served as a den parent or scout master to stand. It looked like about 65% of the members stood. He then asked only the Eagle Scouts to remain standing. There were 5 left standing.
There were 200,000 scouts that made Eagle Scout in the last 4 years . There have been over 2,000,000 Eagle Scouts over the 100 year history of scouting. The community impact is considerable since to become an Eagle Scout the scout has to complete a community service project.
Scouting's goal is to develop local partnerships with churchs, schools, or community service groups that establish troops or packs. The partnerships are administered by the local groups.
There will be a celebration at the National Hall of Leadership (scouting's hall of fame) where individuals will be nominated to the hall
to honor the difference scouting has made.
On 7/31 there will be a simulcast from Dicks Sporting Good's stadium of the closing ceremonies of the National Jamboree from Fort AP Hill, Virginia. This is called the Shining Light across America.
The Centennial year celebration will close over the Labor Day Weekend at a Taste of Colorado with Adventure Base 100.
.
Scouting continues to inspire and prepare future leaders.

Howard Hall introduced Dave Lemon. An interesting and little known fact about Dave was that he was the Junior National Luge Champion in Salt Lake City when he was 14.

Ida Asp, our Swedish exchange student, performed in the student exchange Talent Show. She was in a trio that sang God Bless America, narrated a day at school where exchange students were asked probing questions such as "how many seconds are in a minute in Japan", did a rap song "pants on the ground" and led the whole room dancing the Swedish Yenka (bunny hop). She also sang the Swedish National Anthem with the other Swedish exchange student.

Aurora Symphony Orchestra
Wine Auction Results (SIPS)
Chief Dan Oates reports:
The ASO raised approximately $8,000 at the wine social, our best effort at this event ever. It truly would not have been possible without the full support of the Aurora Rotary club, and I would be pleased if you would convey this information and my thanks to all our members in the next edition of the newsletter.
