Vista 2015 Strategic Action Plan

Barbara Cooper, Equity & Engagement Officer, introduced the Vista 2015 Strategic Action Plan.
A packet was distributed that included a review of the Vista 2010 plan and the highlights of achievements of APS.
Vista 2010 showed that 93% of the 113 metrics had goals that were met (56%) or had made substantial progress (37%).

Lisa Escarcega, Ph.D, Chief Accountability& Research Officer, led the discussion on Goal 1: Accelerate learning and reduce learning gaps. Due to time constraints the discussion served as an example to be used to examine the other goals.
Vista 2015 is broken into four major sub-parts:
People Action Plans
Achievement Action Plans
Community Action Plans
Evironment Action Plans
The plan provides a comprehensive step by step means to achieve APS's goals and the metrics to measure the results.

Mary Lewis, APS School Board Member, pointed out that the first part of the plan is a "Listening Tour" that goes from 10/09 to 3/10 with adoption of the plan scheduled for 8/10. The packet included a response form with 7 questions that gives the community an opportunity for input. She requested that we help by giving our answers. It can also be filled out on line.

Diana Whye made an appeal for contributions to the Haiti Relief Fund. Diana personalized the appeal with a picture of her grandmother, who is from Haiti. The funds are going to the Shelter Box Fund. Shelter Boxes cost $1000 a piece and have a tent, water purification, cooking utensils, and small tools for 10 people. There are 3300 boxes on the way in the care of two Rotarians. The distribution is being coordinated through some of the 9 Rotary Clubs in Haiti.
